Human Longevity Inc - Whole Genome Sequencing iPad Application
Situation
EPAM was approached by Human Longevity, a year and a half ago, to help them build an ecosystem to shift the paradigm of healthcare.
HLI offers a wellness service called “Health Nucleus”, which offers customers a range of medical tests such as a full genome sequencing and tests for early indications of cancers, Alzheimer’s and heart disease. This testing is meant to help people catch it earlier to decrease the risk factors later in life. We convert the data to consumable infographics and show them through an iPad application at the Return of Results. We collected client’s test results and had to build a modern clinical data delivery platform to replace medical paperwork with an electronic ecosystem.
By creating this application, our goal was to reduce the Return of Results session from 4 hours to 2 hours, ultimately to assist more clients in a day.
Actions
While onsite we re-evaluated the content and data of “Avatar” application to streamline the user journey and click throughs to get to the data. We came to a conclusion that the profile page had to be re-thought and the navigation experience was too complicated for a new user.
EPAM’s core team explored several concepts with 2 HN stakeholders to create an easy intuitive “Whole Genome Sequencing” application.
Goal / Role
Some of the key goals were:
Build a modern clinical data delivery platform
Creat the ultimate seamless client and clinician experience
Replace all medical paperwork and transition into an electronic workflow
Quick audit of the current application to see if the content and data supported the new business goal of the iPad applications' use
Develop and support a branched off application 'Whole Genome Sequencing'
Design Iteration
Looking back at the outtakes from the workshop, we prioritized the requirements and started to divide into multiple design sprints. This phase consisted of five sprints, ending each sprint with guerilla user testing it validated our thoughts and designs.
